Government contracts attorney Steven Koprince, a partner with Petefish, Immel, Heeb & Hird, LLP, focuses his practice on helping small businesses navigate the federal marketplace.

In addition to providing small businesses with guidance on complying with the FAR and other key government contracts rules, Steven prepares compliant teaming agreements, joint venture agreements, subcontracts, mentor-protégé agreements, ethics codes, organizational conflict of interest mitigation plans, and other documents small contractors need to ensure that their compliance “t”s are crossed and “i”s dotted.  And, when push comes to shove in the competitive government contacting arena, Steven files and defends GAO bid protests, SBA size protests and SBA size appeals. 

Steven is a regular speaker and author on the FAR, the SBA affiliation rules, and other legal matters important to small government contractors.  He has spoken at industry and professional events across the country, including the Alliance NW Procurement Conference in Washington State, the Midwest Small Business Government Contracting Symposium in Illinois, the Department of Defense Mid-Atlantic Regional Council in Maryland and other events in Washington, DC and elsewhere. 

In addition to The Small-Business Guide to Government Contracts, Steven has published a number of articles on government contracting, which have appeared in leading legal and industry publications, including Contract Management, Public Contract Law Journal, The Federal Lawyer, Set-Aside Alert, and The Procurement Lawyer.  Steven also serves an editor of The Procurement Lawyer, a publication of the American Bar Association's Section of Public Contract Law, and is a regular guest blogger for Nolo's Small Business Legal Blog.

Before entering law school, Steven served as a legislative assistant in the U.S. House of Representatives.  When he is not practicing law, Steven enjoys spending time with his wife and baby daughter, cheering on his beloved Chicago Cubs and Duke Blue Devils, and plotting blockbuster trades in his fantasy football leagues.  Steven is a graduate of Duke University and the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William & Mary.
